Love-Hate

Sometimes in life we experience things that cause us discomfort or displeasure and we often associate these things with negative connotations as they become something we have an intense dislike towards. More often than not, we consider these to be things we “hate”.

Alternatively, sometimes there are things that we find enjoyment in and grow to like passionately. This is what we consider as “loving” a thing.

Amrita, from Of Opinions (a blog which you should definitely check out), recently nominated me for The Love-Hate Challenge which consists of the nominee posting three lists: ten things they love; ten things they hate; ten people they nominate for the challenge.

So, without further ado, here’sΒ ten things I love:

  1. The rain.
  2. Writing. You should read this.
  3. Ducks. Especially rubber ones.
  4. S.E. Hinton is a wonderful writer and a fantastic inspiration. Her novelΒ The OutsidersΒ was published when she was but 16 (my age now so, get a move on SJ) and is definitely one of my favourite books – alongside her other books such asΒ Rumble Fish.Β The film adaptations of her books also quickly became among my favourite films too.
  5. Listening to music. In terms of musical skill, I’m musically inept, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love listening to music. In fact, I often talk about the type of music I like – which can be very varied at times. You can read two examples of this here and here.
  6. Art. I know this is a pretty broad term but I love art: photography, graphic design, illustration, drawings, ect. I love admiring it and creating it.
  7. Early mornings and late nights.Β Although preferably not together.
  8. Long showers.
  9. Lists.Β And ticking things off of said lists.
  10. Poetic language.Β I’ve never been a fan of structured poetry and the likes, but I do have a soft spot for spoken word poetry and, likewise, passages of text which, well, just “sound” poetic. Read more about this here.

Ten things I hate:

  1. Broken promises.
  2. People who constantly put others down.Β
  3. Eggs. Ew.
  4. Homophobia.
  5. Racism.
  6. Sexism.
  7. You know what, just discrimination as a whole.
  8. People who make ignorant, offensive statements.
  9. The exam system.
  10. “First Past The Post” political system.Β Trust me; I’ve ranted on this before.

Ten Nominees

  1. I Prefer Deep Blues and Sea Foam Greens
  2. Afternoon of Sundries
  3. babysteps22
  4. Paula Acton
  5. Confessions of an Anonymous Sinner
  6. I’ll add the rest as I go on. It’s too late for this.
