I write because I don’t know what I think until I read what I say.
Writing is a way for me to lay out my thoughts in a way that I can clearly see what I’m trying to say; what it is that I think. It’s a structure to my thoughts and a way of expressing myself that I’m eternally grateful for.
I don’t know how to express my views on a topic or really all of the points of my argument until I’ve taken half an hour to jot down my every thought and then I take time to pause and reflect.
There are many reasons, ultimately, why I choose to write, but this might just be the major reason; the one that makes the most sense.
Maybe I love words and am passionate about finding the correct order for them to lay; maybe I like the sound of alliteration and enjoy using and learning about devices such as pathetic fallacy; maybe I find peace in using characters as vehicles to explore themes and issues close to my heart; but, essentially, I write because it’s the only option I have to delve deeper into my thoughts.
Why do you write?
