One Year, and Counting

On this day last year, I made the decision regarding something that I had been contemplating for a number of weeks. You see, in 2012 I set up a blog and the success I had from the back of it completely overwhelmed and surprised me. Despite the fact that it’s popularity was continuing to grow and the support I had already received had been amazing, I didn’t feel as if the blog still “understood” me. I was ready for a new adventure; a more mature adventure; an adventure where I could express myself in more depth and with a completely new image. Because of this desire, Delirious Antidotes was born.

I think, in hindsight, the post that really made me realise that I was ready for a new blog was this one. It had attracted a lot of attention and I came to realise that the way I write now is not anything like how I used to write. I was beginning to find a professional edge – a style that I had longed for for so long – and now I had, I wanted to start fresh with something that I knew I would always be proud of.

Since I started this little blog a year ago, the journey has not been as effortless or smooth as I had hoped it would be, or even as effortless or as smooth as the journey to my old blog had been, but, regardless, I’ve still been appreciative of the support every step of the way.

This year has bought with it some great opportunities. I’ve had the privilege of interviewing some of my favourite creatives, among musicians and writers in particular. As ever, you can see a list of all of these interviews right here and hear the music of those I’ve interviewed on my SoundCloud playlist.

Just as I’ve had great fun interviewing new people – particularly musicians and bands – I’ve also tried my hand at some more creative writing. A special shout out to Laura Feasey and her writing prompts!

Of course, that’s not all that’s happened over this wonderful year. You can read some of my favourite posts from the last year all compiled right here. Let me know what you think and if we share any of the same favourites. 🙂

This year, I’m focused on making the continuation of this journey even smoother and I’m rolling out a massive social media push in doing so. As of today, you can follow me on all of the following social media platforms (and, of course, I’d be happy to return the follow):

A special thank you to everyone who’s joined me on this journey over the last year and a warm welcome to anyone who’s joining me for the second, hopefully of many to come. It’s been a pleasure and, I’m sure, it will continue to be over the next year. Remember to connect with me – especially in the comments – and a huge thank you for reading my one year recap. 🙂

    1. Thank you very much! I’m really pleased. I honestly thought, at the beginning, I’d get bored of this blog after a few months and revert to my old one.

      Ah, best of luck!

It’s been a year since I started my new blog. If you haven’t already, please check it out and give it a follow because I no longer post over here.

    Best wishes! ❤

  2. Congratulations on making I through a year! I’m going to have to check out those favourite posts of yours and I do hope the next year will be amazing for you! It’s seriously so much effort to continue blogging for a year and further and it’s awesome to see people hit these milestones! I haven’t surpassed a year yet, but I’m getting there, and it’s always awesome to see people kind of reflect on what has gone past.
